This February 1958 view by my brother may show the Ann Rutledge, which was discontinued that year, departing Bloomington. The southbound train was scheduled to leave Bloomington at 10:41 a.m. The overcast, wintry day makes it difficult to estimate the time of the photograph, but the consist — which appears to terminate in the streamlined observation lounge — suggests that this is not the midday Alton Limited, the only other southbound train that could be photographed during daylight in February. In the distance, near the depot, we see the factory of the Beich Candy Company with its water tower. EMD F3A unit 882B, in the lead, operated until 1969.
