Ten-wheeler No. 1240 appears here in her pre-1940 guise as No. 827 before the introduction of the Gothic lettering style; she assumed her final number in 1948 and was dropped from the roster two years later. American Locomotive Company delivered her in 1907 as No. 2114 of NYC&HR class F-2e; when superheated in 1915 she was reclassified to F-12e, and in 1936 she was renumbered to 827. The dimensions of the F-12e class were similar to those shown for F-12a No. 1235 previously, except that they weighed more at 208,000 pounds. The lensman who captured this image is unknown, but Wayne Koch provided it for this collection.
