Douglas Kerr provided this photo of CNR J-7-b Pacific No. 5294, which his father Ken Kerr took at London, Ontario, in 1939. The locomotive was delivered in 1919 by Montreal Locomotive Works as Canadian Government Railway No. 522 and was then acquired by the Canadian National, which leased it to the Grand Trunk Railway as No. 1522 before absorbing it into the CNR numbering sequence. The engine lasted until being torched in 1961. The dimensions of this class were similar to those of the the J-7-c class, shown for Nos. 5295 and 5299, but their locomotive weight was 268,000 pounds. Mr. Kerr also took a closeup shot of No. 5294's cylinders and running gear.
