The ten class G-3 Pacifics the Reading Company erected in its company shops in 1948 were among the last 4-6-2s built for North American use. (30 class G-5 4-6-2s were also delivered that year to the Canadian Pacific.) The Reading locomotives had 80-inch drivers, sustained 280 p.s.i. of boiler pressure, and had cylinder dimensions of 25x28 inches. For other specifications, see the commentary for No. 217. This photo, acquired through eBay, is attributed to F. W. Trittenbach of Emmaus, Pennsylvania, and was taken at Allentown on July 11, 1948.
