Modern steam puts in an appearance in the "Wheels-a-Rolling" pageant as brand-new Nickel Plate 2-8-4 No. 779 meets Grand Trunk Western streamlined 4-8-4 No. 6408. Berkshire 779 was the last steam locomotive produced by Lima Locomotive Works for a North American railroad. GTW's 6408, also Lima-built, was erected in 1938. The equipment in the far background might be part of the "Talgo Train," newly built for service in Spain.
