From my dormitory room in Boston University School of Theology in September 1960, I shot this photo of two inbound Metropolitan Transit Authority PCC cars. The cars usually ran in multiple in the center mall of Commonwealth Avenue, before entering the tunnel near Kenmore Square. At night, especially in warm weather with the windows cranked open, the pounding of a car's flat wheel echoing off the buildings flanking Commonwealth Avenue could make quite a racket.
