B&A Berkshire No. 1441 of class A-1b rests at the Beacon Park terminal, Boston, on September 19, 1947. The image is from the collection of Carl Weber, photographer unspecified. With a 100-square-foot grate area, the B&A 2-8-4s had 5065 square feet of evaporative heating surface and 2110 square feet of superheating surface, plus 149 square feet of thermic siphons.
