The ten members of the Kj class were 1911 products of the American Locomotive Company's Schenectady plant. No. 551 was retired in 1949, being one of the last two members of its class to be dropped from the roster. Dimensions of this group were identical to those for the KL and Km classes given on the pages for Nos. 559 and 561. No. 548 of the class was pictured in a 1913 American Locomotive Company sales bulletin, as shown below.
