The CCC&StL ("Big Four") took delivery of the Kh class of 4-6-2s from ALCo's Schenectady Works in 1910. These locomotives weighed 236,200 pounds and produced 28,520 pounds of tractive effort. They sustained 200 p.s.i. of boiler pressure, rolled on 75-inch drivers, and had 22x26-inch cylinders. These modest specifications may explain why all were retired before they could be renumbered into the New York Central System sequence in 1936. No. 6427, posing here at Cincinnati in August 1919, was dropped from the roster in 1932. Wayne Koch furnished this postcard view, originally from K. E. Schachter of Piermont, New York.
