Class H-7e Mikado No. 1977 is reported to have been the last steam locomotive to operate on the New York Central system, working out of Riverside Yard in Cincinnati with a transfer run to the Louisville & Nashville's DeCoursey Yard across the Ohio River on May 3, 1957. She appears here in this color image from Frank Fabian, no doubt during her final months of service. These locomotives had 4650 square feet of evaporative heating surface, 1163 square feet of superheating surface, and a grate area of almost 60 square feet; for other specifications see the page for No. 1956, previous.
