Pacific No. 4678 stops at Elkhart, Indiana on October 13, 1947 in this scene captured by Lavergne G. Isaac of Constantine, Michigan and acquired via eBay. As built, the K-3q group was equipped with a booster which raised their tractive effort from 30,900 to 40,610 pounds. No. 4678, originally 3278, was dropped from the roster in 1952. The K-3 class had 79-inch drivers and 23½x26-inch cylinders, and sustained 200 p.s.i. of boiler pressure; for other dimensions see the commentary for No. 4683.
