When renumbered from 3372 in 1936, 4-6-2 No. 4851 was one of the few remaining members of the K-3g class and outlasted all the others, being withdrawn from service early in 1949. This photo, provided by William D. Volkmer, shows her in her pre-1940 appearance with the Roman lettering. The exact date, photographer, and location are, however, lost to history. Locomotives of the K-3g class, which came from the American Locomotive Company's Schenectady Works in 1913, shared basic K-3 dimensions as given for Nos. 4678 and 4683, although their weight differed at 271,000 pounds.
