J-3a Hudson No. 5444, last of the nonstreamlined members of this class erected in 1937, still wears its as-delivered shine, lettering style and unbroken running board in this pristine view provided by Tom Rock of  T.D.R. Productions. Although no definite crediting information is forthcoming, the photo was likely snapped in Detroit around 1940 by a Windsor, Ontario railfan. This engine was taken out of service in 1954.
