Lavergne G. Isaac of Constantine, Michigan captured this image of class J-3a Hudson No. 5453 at nearby White Pigeon on October 16, 1953. At this late date in their careers these "super Hudsons" had mostly been bumped from premier main line varnish to local trains on secondary lines. This train appears to be No. 807, westbound on the former LS&MS "Old Road" between Toledo and Elkhart, scheduled to depart White Pigeon at 10:53 a.m. When this photo was taken No. 5453 had less than two years to remain in service, being retired in 1955. This image was acquired from an eBay seller.
