Our visit to railroad facilities in Denver on August 14, 1957 revealed that local switching on the Colorado & Southern and the Santa Fe was still partly in the hands of a group of chunky Consolidations. Some of these, like No. 608 seen here and No. 634 on the following page, were lettered for both railroads. Rhode Island Locomotive Works built No. 608 in 1901, and she was not dropped from the roster until the end of 1960. For the specifications of this B-4R class of 2-8-0s, see the page for No. 634.
