My brother, David Leonard, snapped East Broad Top's narrow gauge (36-inch) Mikado No. 15 as she staged a photo runby in August 1960, near Orbisonia, Pennsylvania. A 1914 product of Baldwin Locomotive Works, No. 15 was the mainstay of the East Broad Top tourist operation, appearing in several YouTube videos. With 48-inch drivers and 19x24-inch cylinders, the 2-8-2 sustained 180 p.s.i. of boiler pressure. She weighs a total of 150,150 pounds and developed 27,600 pounds of tractive effort. In 2020 the EBT was acquired by the non-profit EBT Foundation, formed by several prominent railway industry figures. Extensive restoration activities of the line, structures, and rolling stock are in progress.
