Virginia & Truckee 4-4-0 No. 18, Dayton, appeared at the 1948 fair in the guise of Union Pacific No. 18. The Dayton was erected 1873 by the Sacramento Shops of the Central Pacific Railroad. After retirement from operation by the V&T the locomotive was acquired by the film industry and appeared in several movies; she also doubled for other historic locomotives that had been scrapped, including substituting for the Union Pacific's No. 119 in reenactments of the 1869 Golden Spike ceremony. Dayton is now owned by the Nevada State Railroad Museum. The historic significance of the Union Pacific locomotive being simulated here is unknown.
