Burlington Route EMD E8A 9977 powers bi-level commuter train 305 at Berwyn, Illinois on July 25, 1970 in a transparency by David V. Leonard. Delivered in 1953, the unit became Burlington Northern 9977 in 1970. In 1974 Morrison Knudsen rebuilt it as unit 9904 of the West Suburban Mass Transit District, part of Chicago's Metra system. In 1995 it was rebuilt as Illinois Central 101 to power the railroad's business train, and still operates in this capacity for IC successor Canadian National.
